    Troubleshooting

Getting the most out of your Hi-Lift Jack

Before attempting any of the "Troubleshooting" items; clean the jack thoroughly using a NON-FLAMMABLE solution; lubricate the edges of the upright Steel Bar and all working parts with light oil (note the lube points shown on the "Parts Diagram").

    Important Notes:

Never service your jack nor attempt repairs to the jack while it is under a load. The lifted load must be approximately 150 pounds or more to lower step-by-step, otherwise, the lifting mechanism will automatically return to base level.

    Troubleshooting Steps

    1. Check For Visibly Broken or Worn Parts
    2. Check Running Gear Installation
    3. Lock The Reversing Latch
    4. Inspect Cross Pins
    5. Inspect Reversing Switch
    6. Check Reversing Switch Spring
    7. Inspect Climbing Pin Springs
    8. Confirm Proper Installation of Climbing Pin
9 . Check for Proper Function of Climbing Pins
    10. Check Safety Shear Bolt

REPLACING THE REVERSING SWITCH (PART #C5)

Place the Reversing Latch (Part #C4 or S4) in the up or locked position. Remove the Cross Pin (Part #26) from the upper Climbing Pin (Part #29). Move the Reversing Latch to the down or disengaged position. Remove the Cap Screw (Part #22A) and the Reversing Latch. Pull the Reversing Switch outward and down until it rests on the upper Climbing Pin. Keep the Reversing Switch as low as possible and with a screwdriver, push the Reversing Switch Spring (Part #27A) off the catch on the Reversing Switch. Allow the Spring to drop down behind the Reversing Switch. CAUTION: DO NOT OVER COMPRESS NOR BEND THE SPRING! Remove the Reversing Switch. Install a new Reversing Switch (and Reversing Switch Spring, if necessary); replace parts in reverse order.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE BEVELED SIDE OF THE CLIMBING PIN IS UP WHEN INSERTING THE CROSS PIN. ALSO, LEAVE 1/32" CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE CROSS PINS AND THE BRIDGES OF THE LARGE RUNNER (Part #C10) AND SMALL RUNNER (Part #C1).
